About

Julie is a Franco-British award-winning figurative painter based in Clapham, London. She paints in oils and her interests lie mostly in portraiture and still lives. Her still lives are inspired by daily objects, which reflect familiar moments of our modern day lives, sometimes including strong and colourful brand identities in the tradition of pop art. Her favourite portraits are those set within her sitters’ home environments or those that tell a story close to her sitters' real identities. In all her paintings, she strives to maintain a strong sense of light and balance, painting almost exclusively from life. Julie trained in the traditional atelier method at the London Fine Arts Studios from 2018 to 2023 and is influenced by many old masters, ranging from Jean Simeon Chardin, to Elizabeth Vigee-Lebrun, Rosa Bonheur, Joaquin Sorolla and Ilya Repin.

Julie has been a member of ArtCan since February 2025. She was recently selected for the 2024 Royal Society of Marine Artists annual exhibition and the 2024 Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition where she won the 2024 Gordon Hulson Memorial Prize - gordonhulson.com

In 2022, Julie won the Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize (now renamed the Women In Art Prize) and The Mall Galleries award for Best Figurative painting as part of the Holly Bush competition.

Prior to painting, Julie spent twenty plus years working in the financial sector and she also holds a Master in Management from HEC Paris.
